The Barn at Spring Brook Farm is a non-profit organization located on a 17-acre farm in West Chester, PA. The Barn serves children ages 2-12 with physical, cognitive and/or developmental disabilities through animal and nature-based services in the Greater Philadelphia Region. The Barn at Spring Brook Farm depends on a strong base of volunteers to help serve our children and families. Many opportunities exist to assist children, care for animals and maintain The Barn and its grounds. From large scale group projects to recurring jobs, our volunteers make The Barn at Spring Brook Farm the incredible place that it is. Regardless of area of expertise, we have a volunteer service opportunity for everyone.
Individual Program: Individuals can work 1:1 with a child with disabilities in our Individual Program, a minimum of one hour a week for a minimum of 6 weeks (March-May and September-November). Volunteers must be over 18 (or 14-17 with an adult guardian). This opportunity is great for anyone interested in or needing experience in the fields of Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, or PT/OT/TR!
Camp Geronimo 2022: We are always looking for exceptional volunteers to participate in our summer day camp, Camp Geronimo. The focus of camp is to provide campers with the opportunity to connect with animals and participate in sensory and physical activities around The Barn. Camp runs 6 weeks over the following weeks: June 27 – July 1; July 18 – July 22; July 25 – July 29; August 1 – August 5; August 8 – August 12. This camp is open to children 6 – 12 years of age, and will host up to 16 children per week.
Other: Group and Team volunteer projects build camaraderie and cooperation among participants as well as get a large scale job done in a short amount of time. There are a number of group activities that contribute greatly to The Barn’s mission including spring cleaning, gardening and administrative support.
Please note, all volunteers are required to provide their criminal background check and child abuse clearances. Additionally, The Barn takes great care to ensure that our volunteers receive the proper training and orientation necessary to excel in the opportunity they choose.
