The Power of Partnership: 240 Laptops Donated to Support Workforce and Youth Development in Chester County

When community partners come together with a shared goal, lasting impact follows. That spirit of collaboration was on full display when Kate Sheehan, Senior Manager of Community Affairs at QVC and a Board member of Chester County United Way, facilitated the donation of 240 laptops to support critical workforce and youth development initiatives across the region.

Kate connected with us to explore how the technology could be distributed where it’s needed most. From there, we partnered with Chester County OIC and the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC) to coordinate the donation and delivery of the laptops.

Chester County OIC will use the devices in its adult workforce development program initiatives, helping clients gain access to education, skills training, and employment resources.

CCEDC will integrate the laptops into its youth programming. This includes summer camps, where students will participate in a virtual Space Station Mission designed to promote STEM learning, as well as during the school year in after-school enrichment programs.

“This is a great example of how collaboration can unlock new opportunities,” said Amanda Blevins, Director of Community Impact at Chester County United Way. “By working together, we’re making sure these devices go directly into programs that empower individuals and strengthen our community.”

While the laptops are not yet in use, their future impact is already clear—bridging access, fueling opportunity, and reflecting the power of collective action.
