Leadership Chester County (LCC), the region’s premier professional development program for nonprofit board leadership, is proud to announce that applications are now open for its 2025–2026 class. This year marks a very special milestone: the 25th anniversary of the program.
Launched in 2001 as the Chester County Leadership Connection and renamed Leadership Chester County in 2011, the program has remained committed in its mission to prepare community-minded professionals to serve as effective nonprofit board members. Over the past 25 years, LCC has graduated hundreds of alumni who now serve in leadership roles across Chester County and beyond, strengthening nonprofits and shaping the civic landscape of the region.
LCC’s comprehensive eight-month curriculum runs from October through May, meeting one full weekday each month. Participants engage in interactive sessions led by distinguished speakers, community leaders, and subject matter experts, covering critical areas such as community development, collaboration, advocacy, and effective governance. Graduates leave the program with enhanced leadership skills, a deeper understanding of Chester County’s needs, and nonprofit board placement assistance to connect them with organizations aligned with their passions and expertise.
“Reaching our 25th year is both a celebration and a reminder of the lasting impact Leadership Chester County has had on our community,” said Kelly Cockshaw, Director of Leadership & Innovation at Chester County United Way. “We’re proud to honor the vision of those who started this program in 2001, and excited to continue preparing the next generation of leaders who will guide nonprofits through today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities.”
LCC welcomes individuals at every stage of life and career—seasoned professionals, retirees, and those just beginning their careers. Participants represent a wide range of sectors, including business, government, education, and nonprofits. The program is designed for those who are curious about how the community works and are motivated to make a meaningful impact.
Administered and facilitated by Chester County United Way, in partnership with West Chester University and the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry, Leadership Chester County has become a trusted resource for building civic leadership. With the support of dedicated partners and sponsors, the program has developed a strong network of alumni who bring their skills and passion to nonprofit boards and community initiatives throughout the region.
Applications are open now through September 12, 2025. To learn more or apply, click here or contact Cockshaw at 610-429-9400.
