Thank You, County Commissioners!

Chester County Commissioners Michelle Kichline, Kathi Cozzone and Terence Farrell recently donated $10,000 to the United Way of Chester County Mobile Home Reassessment project.  Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone, who also serves on the United Way of Chester County Board, said, “The Mobile Home Reassessment project is a great example of the way in which the United Way of Chester County comes alongside other non-profits, as well as public and private organizations, to provide practical solutions that, in this instance, truly benefit County homeowners who have been unfairly taxed.” What is this Initiative?A small local reassessment project came to the attention of United Way of Chester County who, after learning more about the issue, were determined to help this population and focus the reassessments on two specific neighborhoods as a pilot endeavor. United Way partnered with the Honey Brook Food Pantry and engaged Legal Aid of SEPA to assist with hearings and paperwork. After the pilot achieved tremendous impact, the United Way now hopes to scale the project to reach 1,000 more mobile home owners in Chester County who may be in a similar situation. To learn more, please click here.

Give The Gift of Warmth

Help us help families in Chester County stay warm this winter. It take as little as $150 to make a big difference. Sometimes we take our warm and secure homes for granted but there are some in Chester County who don’t have that luxury. Donate a window ($150), repair a furnace or give a water heater ($500) and drastically change the living conditions of a family.  Since 2005, United Way of Chester County has helped many local families through the Share the Warmth program – helping our neighbors make home repairs before the most brutal months of the year come upon us. All donations are used to fund home projects by local nonprofit organizations that train and manage community volunteers in completing the majority of the work.

Non-Profit Workshop Series

We recently held our fourth Non-Profit workshop of the year, Business Continuity Training, and had almost 50 local agencies join us at the Public Safety Training Center in Coatesville. Through offering these workshops, we hope to provide integral information to help grow Chester County non-profits.  Stay tuned for our next workshop which will be held in the early months of 2020. Non-Profit Workshop Topics:

  • Grant Writing Resources
  • Chester County Data
  • ALICE Overview
  • Business Continuity Training
  • Session #5 – Coming in 2020
