Winter is here. As harsh as it may be for many of us, there are others right here in Chester County that are unable to escape these conditions, even in their own homes. Imagine running for a bucket every time it rains; or shivering in the cold without heat. That’s the reality for many disabled, elderly and low-income families. It’s not too late to help bring better roofs, windows and heating systems to those in need.
United Way of Chester County’s annual Share the Warmth program provides people in Chester County long term fixes through major home repairs and winterization projects and short term solutions for those facing homelessness or inadequate shelter. This work often means that families can stay in their own homes – warm, safe and dry – and those affected by the elements of winter are protected. Since its inception, the Share the Warmth program has provided 537 Chester County families with over $950,000 in home repairs and winterization projects.
