Additional comments were provided by PA State Senator Andy Dinniman, Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone, Chester County District Attorney Joe Carroll, and PA State Representative Barbara McIlvaine-Smith, all of whom gave examples of what it means for them to Live United and encouraging others to join United Way in its mission to advance the common good. Brian Smith, COO of AEGON Direct Marketing Services and the 2008 Campaign Co-Chair, announced this year’s campaign goals. Smith explains, “We understand that during this time of uncertainty in our economy the need increases while resources are decreasing. To maintain our level of support for the need in the community, we are proposing an aggressive campaign goal of $6.6 Million, and ask everyone to help us help others.” Claudia Hellebush, President and CEO of United Way of Chester County, concludes “In times of distress, we have seen Chester County residents pull together and exceed expectations for good citizenship. Whether it be after September 11 or following Hurricane Katrina or in our current economic environment, we anticipate seeing the best in Chester County philanthropy shine through.” The 2007-2008 Campaign raised $6,155,000 in pledged contributions, thanks in part to our highly involved business partners.
