Themes & Trends in Education
- With fewer families with young children moving into the area as a result of the economy there has been a decline in use of early intervention services.
- There is a direct correlation between income, physical and behavioral health and school performance/achievement.
- Parent engagement is a missing link to ensuring student academic success and healthy behaviors.
- The need for adult supervised, safe and meaningful after and out-of-school activites continues to increase.
- Young people need preparation for college and work outside of school walls.
- A freeze on childcare subsidies and projected cuts will have an even greater impact on families accessing quality early education.
